Questions questions....
Is there Internet in the house?
Yes! full fibre optic fast broadband. Just grab the password from the router or the picture frame when you come into the house. We have all worked from the house and its lovely and fast.
Phones?
You are in a natural valley in the National Park. Enjoy the fact they do not connect in the house - (we use messenger or whatsapp though) you would need to simply go to the top of the hill to connect - or - we found our phones rang whilst half way across the beach! if urgent, there is a payphone in the beach car park a short walk away.
Barbeque? garden? smoking?
We have a lovely enclosed garden with a super patio with a six seater table and chairs for you (chairs belong in shed, please place back after). PLEASE PLEASE put the parasol away after use. We had our brand new one in 2019 and a guest took it out for the first time and left it out and the Welsh wind killed it in half (not summer!). We do not provide a Barbeque, but there was a nice one left by someone else this year, so you can use that! we are not responsible for its cleanliness though so be prepared incase someone has put back dirty - please place on the paving slabs not on the decks please. Please no smoking in the house at all or in the grounds. We are not here to clean up your cigarette ends. Suggest you take a little walk and dispose of in the bins nearby, or have a drink in the Longhouse and use their fantastic smoking deck on the other side of the pub.
Are there shops nearby?
There is a garage and good shop 2 miles up the hill in Lamphey which has everything you might need for urgent trips, and the Longhouse next door has some items but limited. If you walk across the car park, and through the next one there is also the Caravan Club little shop too for basics like bread and milk. There is a little quick Morrisons on the way to Pembroke, and in Pembroke (15 minute drive away) there is an Aldi, and a big Tesco, and in Pembroke Doc, there is an Asda and Lidl, Food Farm Shop and B&M. If you want department store shopping, then Haverford West would be your best destination with a TKMaxx, Boots, Morrisons, B&M, Halfords and an M&S to play in as well as smaller shops in the town. You can get shopping deliveries too from Asda, Sainsbury's and Tesco. Tenby has a nice Sainsbury's in the centre of town.
Places to eat?
So many! we are still discovering. See our What to do page
Do you allow dogs?
We allow up to two well behaved dawgs, (sorry, no more anymore, as have had issues with wet dogs on furniture and mess in the garden), and sadly we now charge £20 per dog, as extra cleaning usually occurs (one guest our cleaners had to hoover three times to get the hair out! ). Please use the hoover if you have a hairy hound and try and leave clean when you leave and no wet dogs on furniture at all! lots of towels and throws in the chest in the lounge to help with that. We like to place one by the back door too.
We do have house rules though:
Please do not use the downstairs shower room as a kennel, it broke our hearts to see the scratches on the door and wall from where someone else obviously had locked their pooch in there before we owned it. We have left them for now, as a reminder not to do it! They can be with you, but no dogs upstairs anymore. Please make sure all doors are closed. We now have a little gate placed at the bottom of the stairs to stop hounds going up to the beds.
We have left some water and feeding bowls in one of the kitchen cupboards, and there are some old throws and new waterproof throws in the downstairs chest to drape on the fabric sofas, and leather sofas. No wet dogs on the fabric sofa.
As mentioned, always clean that garden please! our cleaners do not pick up and should not have to pick up after your four legged friends. The beach is dog friendly all year round - look after that gift please too!
We do not like dogs being left alone in the house, but if you have no choice, please leave in the kitchen with doors closed. Damage will be charged for so only do this if you know that your pooch is a good one and is exhausted so will be asleep! Most of the local pubs etc., do allow dogs however. If you know your doggie barks when you are not there, then please do not leave in the house, as we are semi-detached.
Sorry for the dog nag!! we want our home to be lovely for all guests and those that do not have dogs.
Good for children?
The house is perfect for kids. We now provide a travel cot and highchair. We do not supply bedding though for the cot. The Cot is a Hauck Travel Cot. It has a mattress which is an Air Comfort Breathable Quilted Extra Thick. Size is 120x60x30.
We have placed some treasured family toys into the house, so please enjoy them but treat them with love as we have done for years. There are also colouring books, and paper in the dresser, and games, and an oil cloth to put on the table so you do not have to worry about them marking stuff! There are some buckets and spades in the shed, enjoy - and please place back again for next guests or get rid of if broken. The beach is super perfect for kids with the freshwater coming onto it. Castles and dams galore! Watch the stream in hot summer though as not always great for dogs due to algae.
Do I need to bring linen or towels?
All bed linen is provided (apart for travel cot). Towels are also provided but not for the beach please. There are some dog towels in the chest in the lounge, please wash and dry and put back after your stay along with the throws.
When is the rubbish collected?
There is no rubbish collection from the house as such, instead there are ample bins at the top of the holiday park hill where you are free to put your rubbish (turn right out of our driveway and head to the very top of the park). We ask that you do not leave rubbish outside of the house as the gulls love to trash the bags, or leave your rubbish for the cleaners. Please simply pop it up the road instead. If you like to recycle, there are recycling bins in the beach car park, but all trash gets recycled from the main bins as well. Do not use the shed as a bin area please! That was not nice to find when we first opened that shed and someone had done this! the gulls had put a hole into the shed and enjoyed the contents of a bin...eeeeeuuuugh.
How do I book?
We work with the fabulous FBM Holiday team in Tenby and Travel Chapter who are really friendly and lovely and will help you book your holiday. See our bookings page for more info.
When is check in and out?
Check in is 3pm and checkout is strictly 10am please. If you want a later checkout, you would need to book this with the agency and it might be subject to a charge, and also dependent on our cleaning team and their timings.
Why do your prices change so much? (actually a question we get).
We follow our agency guidance in what pricing to charge for the seasons. Peak season is always school holidays as the demand is higher generally. Per person, we are still a great value if you are filling the house with guests and our proximity to the sea usually sets a premium.
Out of your payment we pay for:
House insurance and contents insurance
Broadband
Sky
Electricity
Cleaners
Laundry
Gardener
Maintenance
Taxes
Agency charges
Breakage replacements (happens alot more than you would expect)
Capital Expenditure and improvements like the new bathrooms, fencing, new patio etc.,
